FAQ

Questions, answered.

Everything you need to know about hiring, payments, and how Devanchor works.

How does Devanchor protect my payment?+

Funds are held in escrow by our payment processor (Stripe) when you fund a contract. The developer is paid only after you approve delivery, or automatically released after the inspection window if you take no action. If a dispute is opened, funds stay held until both parties resolve it.

Who actually delivers the work?+

Independent freelance developers — not Devanchor employees. Devanchor is a marketplace that connects clients with vetted independent professionals and handles escrow, messaging, and reviews. The contract for the work itself is between you and the developer.

What happens if a developer disappears or delivers poor work?+

Open a dispute from the contract page before approving delivery. Funds remain in escrow while we review the conversation, files, and contract scope. Outcomes can include partial release, full refund, or re-assignment to another vetted developer.

How are developers vetted?+

Every developer submits portfolio work, GitHub or live links, and self-reported experience that an admin reviews before they can apply to projects. Vetting is a quality signal — not a guarantee of any specific outcome on your project.

What does Devanchor cost?+

Posting a project and getting matched is free. When you fund a contract, a platform fee (currently 20%) is deducted from the contract amount and the rest is paid to the developer on release. There are no monthly fees or hidden charges.

Can I talk to the developer off-platform?+

No. All communication, files, and payments must stay on Devanchor — both for your protection (escrow, dispute coverage, audit trail) and to comply with our Terms. Sharing contact info in chat is automatically flagged.

Do you handle taxes, contracts, or IP assignment?+

Developers are independent contractors and responsible for their own taxes. By default, work delivered through a released contract is assigned to the client per our standard Terms. For custom contracts, NDAs, or specific IP arrangements, you can attach your own agreement to the contract.

Where are developers based?+

Worldwide. Devanchor is a global marketplace — you can filter by timezone, language, and tech stack when reviewing applications.
